Introduction to biomaterials and biomaterials
science. Materials used in medicine (metals and alloys, polymers, ceramics,
glasses and glass-ceramics, bioresorbable and biodegradable materials,
natural materials, carbon materials, composites). Textured and porous
materials. Host reaction to biomaterials (inflammation, wound healing,
foreign-body reaction, immune response to foreign materials, blood-materials
interaction). Biological testing of materials (in vitro and in vivo
assessment of tissue compatibility, animal models). Degradation of materials
in biological systems. Prosthesis (endoprosthesis, orthesis, ephitesis)), and artificial organs (artificial lungs
and lungs – gas exchange devices, artificial kidney, artificial pancreas,
artificial skin) . Materials for tissue engineering and guided tissue
regeneration. Practical aspects of biomaterials (sterilization of implants
and devices, regulation of medical products, ethical issues and legal aspects
in the development of new biomaterials). |

Wprowadzenie do biomateriałów i inżynierii
biomateriałów. Materiały
implantacyjne używane w medycynie (metale i stopy, tworzywa polimerowe,
materiały ceramiczne, szkła i tworzywa szkło-krystaliczne, materiały biodegradowalne
i bioresorbowalne, materiały pochodzenia naturalnego, materiały węglowe,
kompozyty). Materiały o zmodyfikowanej teksturze. Odpowiedź biologiczna na
biomateriał (stan zapalny, proces gojenia, reakcja typu ‘około ciała obcego’,
odpowiedź immunologiczna na obce materiały, oddziaływanie materiał-krew).
Badania właściwości biologicznych materiałów (ocena zgodności tkankowej in
vitro i in vivo, modele zwierzęce). Degradacja materiałów w środowisku
biologicznym. Protezy (endoprotezy, ortezy i epitezy) i sztuczne narządy (sztuczne płuco- serca, sztuczna nerka,
sztuczna trzustka, sztuczna skóra)
Materiały dla inżynierii tkankowej i sterowanej regeneracji tkanek.
Aspekty praktyczne związane z biomateriałami (sterylizacja implantów i wyrobów
medycznych, regulacje prawne i aspekty etyczne związane z opracowaniem nowych
biomateriałów). |
